Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
Family Brain helps a family turn school flyers and notices into shared dates, tasks and reminders. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. “We” and “us” mean Family Brain.
In short: we use your family’s information only to run Family Brain for your family. We don’t sell it, we don’t show ads, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, and your flyers are never used to train AI models.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address and password, used to sign in. Passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see them. The name you choose to show your family.
- Family: your family’s name, its members and their roles, and the people you add so tasks can be assigned to them (for example, a child’s first name). Invitations are links you share yourself; we don’t collect the invitee’s contact details.
- Flyers: the photos you add and the text your device reads from them.
- Tasks and reminders: suggestions found in flyers, and the tasks you create or edit, with their dates, assignments, notes and completion.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, a token that lets us send reminders to that device.
- Subscription: if you subscribe, Apple sends us your subscription’s status: the product, its dates, whether it renews, and transaction identifiers. We never receive your payment details.
- Technical logs: our servers record the time, IP address and requests your app makes, using random identifiers. Logs never contain names, flyer text or task titles.
Family Brain contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
How we use it
- To provide Family Brain: storing your family’s flyers and tasks, syncing them to every member’s devices, finding dates and tasks in flyers, sending reminders, and managing your subscription.
- To keep the service secure and working: preventing abuse, fixing problems, and keeping backups.
- To email you about your account, such as sign-in codes. We don’t send marketing email.
How flyers are read
When you add a flyer, your device reads its text first. Our server then sends the photo and its text to Anthropic’s Claude model running in Amazon Bedrock, inside our own Amazon Web Services account, to find dates and tasks. Amazon Bedrock doesn’t store your flyers, doesn’t use them to train models, and doesn’t share them with Anthropic. Nothing becomes a task until someone in your family reviews it.
Who can see your family’s information
Only the members of your family, according to their role (owner, parent, caregiver, teen or viewer). We look at a family’s information only when you ask us for help, when it’s needed to keep the service secure, or when the law requires it.
Service providers
These companies process information on our behalf, only to provide Family Brain:
- Amazon Web Services (United States): hosting, databases and file storage, sign-in (Amazon Cognito), email (Amazon SES), and reading flyers (Amazon Bedrock).
- Expo (650 Industries, Inc.): delivers reminder notifications. It receives your device’s notification token and the reminder’s text, such as a task title and when it’s due.
- Apple: App Store purchases and subscription management, and delivering notifications to Apple devices.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Family Brain, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
Where it’s stored and how it’s protected
Your information is stored in the United States on Amazon Web Services. It’s encrypted in transit and at rest, and only signed-in members of your family can read it.
How long we keep it
- Your family’s information is kept while the family exists. Flyers and tasks you delete are removed right away.
- When the owner deletes the family, its records and files are deleted right away, and backup copies expire within 30 days.
- When you delete your account, your sign-in and email address are deleted. Tasks you created stay with your family, shown as “Former member.”
- If the family’s subscription ends, the family stays readable for 30 days so it can be exported. After that it’s locked, and it’s deleted 60 days later unless the owner subscribes again.
- Technical logs are deleted after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Export: the family’s owner can export all of the family’s information at any time: records, flyer photos, and a calendar of its tasks.
- Correct: you can edit your family’s tasks in the app, and email us to correct anything else.
- Delete: in the app, members can leave the family and delete their account, and the owner can delete the whole family.
- Notifications: you can turn reminders off at any time in your device’s settings.
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, email us at support@familybrainapp.com. We’ll answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we use your information because we need it to provide the service you asked for, for our legitimate interest in keeping it secure, and to meet legal obligations.
Children
Family Brain is for families, but accounts are for people 13 or older, or older where local law requires it. A parent can invite a teen into the family. Children under 13 shouldn’t create accounts, though a parent may add a child’s name so tasks can be assigned to them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update its date. If the changes are significant, we’ll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
